I got a glimpse today of my future. And it wasn't pretty. Being the mother of 2 girls seemed like an easy lot in life. I chuckle behind my friends' backs when they report of the mischief caused by their male progeny... trips to the ER, mystery fungal growth beneath their beds, and all manner of bodily noises displayed like a recital.
But now I know who will have the last laugh.
As those boys slowly mature into laid-back, easy-going young men... my girls will be coming into their own birthright as the next generation of Drama Queens. At the slightest provocation Dr. Jekyll becomes Mr. Hyde and the whole family is sent into uproar.
They are only 3 and 5. THEY ARE ONLY 3 AND 5!
Riley had a complete meltdown on the way to school because it got too late to walk to school. Taryn was out-of-sorts as well and stomped away from me without saying goodbye. *sigh* I shudder to think what 13 and 15 will be like. I can only hope that they will be making a stronger form of Prozac by then and it will be available in an auto-injection belt like insulin for diabetics.
Even now, as the older is at school (sorry, Ms. Borgmann) the younger is flailing Barbies around in frustration because the tiny clothes won't slide on correctly and the tiny matching shoe is missing for Princess Annelise. Please, oh please, can't we just have a few Matchbox cars and a homemade cardboard ramp and call it good?
I love my girls. I really do. And I know that parenting isn't for the faint of heart. I just wish that my energy level would keep up with the ever-changing demands. Food for thought. Better living thru chemistry. Stop the world, I want to get off. And now I'm just babbling....
Gonna suck it up and help with those @#%$ Barbie clothes. Ciao!

Tiptoe....

Or risk being yelled at by the Tulip Police. Which happened to us a couple of times... but the shots are so great when the kids are out in the middle of the rows. I couldn't help but bend the rules a bit.
We're so blessed to live 2 hours away from this miraculous site near Mt. Vernon, Washington. As you drive along the country roads, you suddenly see a field ablaze with red, yellow, or purple. It seems surreal that the earth would be painted with such vivid color. It really is one of the coolest things about Springtime!
All photos taken with Canon Digital Rebel - mostly with 50mm lens - in Creative Mode with white balance set to Sunny. I tried to give myself a crash course from Brian Peterson's "Understanding Exposure" - and discovered that I definitely haven't mastered the A-DEP manual focus exercises yet! Oh well...

Taking the Scenic Route...

I LOVE these new papers from Scenic Route. Rosy and I are going to do a project with these at our Women's Retreat in a couple of weeks... we'll see if the ladies from church are ready for advanced paper crafting or not - hee hee.
Spring is here... and while opening our barbecue tonight to throw some chicken on the grill for the first time this season... I found MOSS growing inside the barbecue. *gasp*
We had baked chicken instead.

Some new favorite things...

I just love looking at these coasters from Gin-X by Imagination Project. I don't know why - I don't own any of these... yet. But they are fun, fashion-forward, and my eye candy du jour.
In other news... we're getting the final piece of our new sectional couch today! Only 4 weeks late - but hey, what's a few weeks here and there? I feel bad for the saleslady who ordered it incorrectly - I hope she didn't do that to all her orders. She was re-entering the work force - I kind of got the vibe that she was newly single and really needed the job. I guess there are just some things you have to learn the hard way.
